Certified is an independent testing institute for the hotel industry. Similar to the way Stiftung Warentest tests products, certified hotels and locations are qualified and certified by travel and event managers.
Special requirements for business customers are used as evaluation criteria. Neutral and extensive on-site testing results in an objective certificate with reliable detailed information about the tested hotels, apartments and locations - regardless of category, for low-budget hotels as well as luxury hotels, for chain hotels and for private hotels.

Every Certified Hotel is inspected every three years by an independent auditor. Every year in between there is a digital audit for updates and renovation work.

Each of the Certified quality seals contains up to 125 test criteria that are checked uniformly by the examiners. The hotels are therefore comparable to each other.

What criteria are checked at Certified Business Hotels? A certified business hotel must meet the requirements of business travelers and be able to respond to their special wishes with a range of services. Certified Conference Hotels
What criteria are checked at Certified Conference Hotels?The update of the criteria catalog was discussed and carried out in several workshops in the first half of 2019. Exams from July 2019 will be carried out according to the new questionnaire. A certified conference hotel must meet the requirements of a certified business hotel in terms of overnight accommodation. Certified Green Hotels
What criteria are checked at Certified Green Hotels? A Certified Green Hotel is based on three pillars of ecology, economy and social aspects. The CO2 footprint is included. The criteria catalog contains a total of 95 test criteria. In order to be awarded the certificate, all 11 must-have criteria must be met and 50% of the points must be achieved. The certificate is adapted to the strict requirements of international standards such as the Sustainable Development Goals (GDS) and Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). A Certified Green Hotel is a sustainably and future-oriented hotel. The responsible and sustainable use of resources is just as important here as fair treatment of staff and suppliers.
