MetMax Europe is a metalworking company with several decades of experience.

Its main profile is the on-demand manufacture of complex, high-accuracy machined devices in small and medium batches, and the production of complex and high-quality machine parts.

The company was established in 1987 by the lathing master József Szórádi. The high level of expertise and professionalism, and the flexible and customer-oriented service means that MetMax Europe has been continuously growing over the past 30 years, also developing and extending its technological base alongside the increase in its customer portfolio.

Business

TECHNOLOGICAL BACKGROUND

MetMax Europe’s over 140 items of traditional and CNC-machining equipment cover various areas of turning, milling and grinding with regards to machining technologies, raw materials and size ranges.

Our technological base contains 20 counter-spindle turning centres with robots (2 or 3 revolver heads, typically Y-axis machines), over ten 4-axis machining centres and more than five 5-axis machining centres. Apart from surface and internal grinding, our grinding technology includes parallel and slitting grinding, and our B-axis grinding centres with active measuring systems are also suitable for performing the most complex grinding tasks.

Our machining technology is complemented by in-house heat treatment technologies (annealing, induction hardening) and an assembly workshop, and with the support of subcontractor partners, a variety of surface treatment and additional heat treatment technologies are also available.

Quality assurance is supported by two measuring rooms (with a total of five 3D measuring instruments, several purpose-built measurement devices, such as a height measurement device and a contour plotter), a material laboratory (hardness measurement and crack detection required for heat treatment) and tool calibration laser devices.

LATHE

product

MetMax Europe’s set of lathes ranges from universal lathes to state-of-the-art numerical controlled (CNC) machines with single-spindle, twin-spindle and counter-spindle designs, with 1, 2 and 3 revolver heads (up to 48 tool places), in driven tool and 2 Y-axis designs. Owing to its complex turning centres, MetMax Europe’s main strength is the manufacture of complex, high-tolerance rotationally symmetric parts that also require milling operations. More...

MACHINING CENTRES

product

MetMax Europe’s machining centres range from traditional, universal equipment to state-of-the-art numerically controlled (CNC) three, four or five-axis machining centres with horizontal and vertical structures. MetMax Europe typically develops machining, device and tool technology for mass-produced parts based on its own internal competencies. The backbone of the technological base is formed by four-axis, twin-palette machines with a palette size of 500 mm. This technology is characterised by high productivity, versatility and the minimisation of downtime. MetMax Europe’s five-axis machining centres have palette sizes of 300 and 1200 mm (in some cases with an additional lathe function) that satisfy diverse machining needs. The three-axis, vertical machining centres (even with a table size of more than 1000 mm) primarily support the cost-efficient manufacture of larger workpieces and/or simpler workpieces. Maximum range of dimensions: 650x850x950 mm Typical and maximum accuracy: depending on geometry and material quality, it is typically under 0.01 mm, maximum accuracy: as much as 0.005 mm. GRINDER

product

MetMax Europe’s technological background covers cylindrical, internal and centreless grinding for the finishing of rotationally symmetric parts. Furthermore, the company also provides surface and parallel grinding technologies, mainly for the machining of block-like parts. MetMax Europe has a slitting grinder available for manufacturing high-accuracy grooves of high surface quality. Besides traditional grinding machines, MetMax Europe has several numerical-controlled (CNC) grinders, available even with two-wheeled, B-axis design equipped with active measurement, and traditional or diamond disks depending on the application. Maximum range of dimensions: Surface grinding machine: 600 x 1000 x 350 mm Cylindrical grinding machine: with a diameter of 350 x 1000 mm Centreless grinding machine: with a diameter of 3 to 80 mm Slitting grinder: 1350 x 650 x 800 mm Typical precision: several microns depending on size and material quality Our main machine manufacturer supply partners: Studer, Toyoda, Kellenberger, Tachella, MelchiorreMore...

INDUCTION HARDENING, ANNEALING

product

MetMax Europe uses its own technology to harden parts (primarily made of mouldings and stainless steel). The technology includes two annealing furnaces and two items of equipment suitable for induction hardening which provide for the surface induction hardening of parts to precise hardness and crustal thickness. A significant proportion of the parts that combine large quantities of material separation with the expectation of high accuracy require annealing processes between the machining steps, which mostly happens through MetMax Europe’s own technology. We are able to control the parameters following heat-treatment in our material-testing laboratory, where hardness measurement and tests on crustal thickness are achieved through ground sampling. Typical parameters Annealing furnace (up to 300 °C) Medium and high-frequency induction hardening machine (100 kW) More...
