What is the reality for manufacturing companies in Ukraine? How do German companies perceive the situation? Explore the opportunities and risks and join experts from Deutsche Bahn, Heine + Beisswenger Group, and top Ukrainian companies for an engaging webinar on the current situation in Ukraine on 4th of July.

War has been raging in Ukraine for over a year. Yet despite all the suffering and destruction, Ukrainian companies are still active on the ground. Together with the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (OA) and the European Business Association Ukraine (EBA), BME is organising a free webinar in English "In Dialogue: Webinar on Purchasing Opportunities in Ukraine - Current situation, chances and risks" on the 4th of July 2023 to provide participants with useful information on the situation of Ukrainian companies. In addition to an up-to-date assessment by representatives of Deutsche Bahn AG and the Heine + Beisswenger Group, it is in particular companies from Ukraine that will report in detail on their situation and provide valuable internal insights.

"In dialogue, it can be seen that Ukrainian companies are trying everything they can to continue to actively participate in market activities, even under extremely difficult conditions. In order to be best prepared for the future, exchange and contact is an important basis for the companies on both sides in the present situation," Kägebein and Holzgrefe emphasise in unison.

From the Ukrainian side, Mauro Longobardo, Managing Director of ArcelorMittal Krywyj Rih, and Andrij Matsyhin, Head of Fujikura Automotive Ukraine, as well as Yuriy Atanasov, General Director of Centravis Ukraine, will give an up-to-date overview from the companies' point of view. In addition, Anna Derevyanko, Executive Director of the European Business Association Ukraine and co-founder of Global Business for Ukraine, will portray and evaluate the current situation on the ground.

In addition, Dr Torsten Latz, Head of Procurement Rail Vehicles and Rail Vehicle Parts at Deutsche Bahn AG, and Prof. Dr Rainer Lindner, Chairman of the Board of Heine + Beisswenger Group, will report on the current situation from a German perspective.

It is worth taking a look, not least because Ukraine has a large number of important raw materials - iron ore, coal, manganese, natural gas, oil, salt, sulphur, graphite, titanium, magnesium, kaolin, nickel and mercury. In 2021, Ukraine's exports - in terms of total exports according to the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) - included food products at 25.7%, iron and steel at 20.8%, raw materials (excluding fuels) at 17.4%, natural oils, fats and waxes at 10.3%, chemical products at 4.3%, electrical engineering at 4.3% and machinery at 3.1% (source: GTAI). "It is advisable to examine the current situation and also think about tomorrow at an early stage," Olaf Holzgrefe and Stefan Kägebein conclude.
